The brief
Birthday parties are a core part of Holmeleigh Farmyard’s business. The farm needed families to book online: choose a date and timeslot, add guests and catering, and pay either a deposit or the full amount, with pricing the team could manage themselves.
The Approach
Different visitors come to Holmeleigh for different reasons, so the site gives birthday parties, school tours, and the dinosaur exhibition their own dedicated pages. Each section answers the questions visitors are likely to have, with opening times, prices, FAQs, and booking information easy to find.
The birthday-party booking flow is the most important part of the site. Families can choose a date and timeslot, add the number of adults and children, select catering extras, and choose whether to pay a deposit or the full amount. PayFast handles the payment securely, while the booking summary makes it clear what is due now and what, if anything, will be settled later.
The site was built with a custom block theme using Gutenberg and ACF blocks, so the team can update prices, FAQs, and market dates without changing the layout. Google reviews are pulled in through the SerpApi API, stored in the database, and displayed on the site automatically instead of relying on a review plugin or manual copy-and-paste.
The result is a clearer visitor experience and a booking system that handles the detail without making the site difficult for the team to manage.
